We are delighted to announce an open call for Worship Associates (WAs) to join our dynamic Worship Committee at the Unitarian Universalists of Petaluma. This is a fantastic opportunity to serve your congregation and deepen your spiritual connection while enriching our collective worship life.

About the Role:
As a Worship Associate, you will be an integral part of our worship committee, working to create inspiring worship experiences in harmony with our ministers, musicians, AV team, and other cross-functional partners.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Worship Associate, you will:

  1. Support, Coordinate, or Lead services by working closely with the minister, guest speakers, or other worship leaders. You may voice elements of the service, share personal reflections, or even lead or co-lead a lay-led service. (You typically participate in a service once every six weeks or so.)
  2. Participate actively in two retreats per year and attend monthly worship committee meetings;
  3. Engage in ongoing training and mentoring, especially during your first year in the role.

Who Are We Looking For?
The ideal candidate will:

  1. Be a current member of the Unitarian Universalists of Petaluma;
  2. Demonstrate interest in engaging in reflection and meaning-making on various themes and topics;
  3. Display comfort in public speaking and engaging openly with the congregation;
  4. Express willingness to develop and support a wide range of Sunday services;
  5. Exhibit openness to learning about spiritual practices that underpin the creation of worship;
  6. Work well and respectfully as part of a team, willing to receive coaching and direction;
  7. Possess basic word processing skills.

UUP is looking to add to its Religious Exploration Team

Position:   Religious Exploration Teacher
Supervisor:   UUP Religious Exploration Coordinator
Est Weekly Hours: 2-3 hours per week
Salary: $25/hour
Work schedule:  Sundays 10 am–12 pm and optional additional hours for planning meetings
 
Religious Exploration (RE) at Unitarian Universalists of Petaluma provides our children with opportunities to grow spiritually, develop a sense of personal and social responsibility, and experience joy as integral members of a loving Unitarian Universalist community. As our church continues to grow, we need dedicated and experienced educators who can help craft and execute the weekly educational and spiritual needs of our church’s youth.

Job Description:

  • Each week, lead an hour-long UU focused lesson for 2-10 students on Sundays that can engage a flexible range of ages from 5-13 years old.
  • Communicate regularly with the coordinator and committee.
  • Create a welcoming, safe environment for children.

This Teacher position has the potential to expand in scope and pay should our program experience growth. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Unitarian Universalism; however, individuals who are not Unitarian Universalists will be considered if they can affirm our principles and values.

As our church continues to grow, we need dedicated and experienced educators who can help craft and execute the weekly educational and spiritual needs of our church’s youth.

Job Description:
