Our Mission and Vision
We are a young congregation, founded in 2002 by a handful of families. in 2011, as we prepared to hire our first minister, we adopted our Mission: “UUP welcomes all to live your sacred, transform through love and act with courage.”
Our mission builds on our purpose, which we defined when the founding families first put their dreams to paper as Bylaws:
“The purpose of this congregation is to provide a haven where members can share in a spiritually, culturally and socially diverse local religious community. We envision a congregation that will be welcoming to all, that values contributions from each member in shared ministry, that actively promotes and models individual development of an ethical way of living. We are intentionally inter-generational, and covenant to provide religious education and spiritual growth for children and adults.
The Unitarian Universalists of Petaluma are committed to providing and open-minded, embracing religious presence in the Petaluma community that examines, adopts and practices the “Seven Principles” and the “Living Tradition” of the Unitarian Universalist Association.”
