On Labor Day, how often do we consider the place of labor in our lives, and the many struggles undergone by working people to gain acknowledgment of their inherent worth and dignity? Today, we will hear about and honor working people—pretty much all of us—and look at the American labor movement in particular. A big part of today will revolve around the music of protest and organizing that sprang up from the labor movement, and the modern-day musical descendants of that tradition. The Common House Band will perform and lead us in song.
