The Kingdom of God, True Self and Buddha Nature

There is a closeness of purpose in both Christian and Buddhist traditions that is most easily defined by these words of Jesus according to the apostle Mathew: “The Kingdom of God is within”.  In Hinduism this is called the Atman or True Self.  In Buddhism this is called the Root Mind or Buddha Nature.  Buddha taught compassion as the best method to reveal and develop this potential within us and all living beings.  Daniel H. Potter will talk on this process and how it relates to our everyday lives.  He has been a serious student of many traditions for over 40 years and is currently one of the the General Program Teachers and the Foundation Program Teacher at Mahakaruna Buddhist Meditation Center in Petaluma.
