December 27: “Antidotes to Cultural Numbness

Walter Brueggemann, a liberal Christian theologian said, “Compassion is not a personal emotion but an act against the numbness of society.” Let’s consider this quality of numbness that is emblematic of modern society and explore two very specific – and unexpected – ways we can counter it both personally and corporately in the new year.
