Haiku and other short poems about love

By admin February 8th, 2009

“Love haiku is when
Everything comes to heart &
Nothing comes to mind”

These poems, mostly haiku, were composed by those in attendance at the February 8, 2009 UU Petaluma service entitled “Preparing for Love.”

Whole Heart opening
Orient to the source
Accept the offer

Mist spouting on the horizon
together, fast and deep
southward for me

My love is giving!
I see you well and whole
All God’s goodness is yours–accept.

Drawn to expand life
bee to bloom
embrace the miracle

Is it really love?
Or is it just brain chemistry?
I believe it’s love.

Love in the abstract
Love lived as daily practice
Unbridgeable gulf

Doing the laundry
Taking care of each other
Where else is the love?

I stood there, at rest
Looking up, I saw your smile
You left me smiling

Cormorant stands impassive
Knowing
I wish for the brain of a bird

The sky is grey
music plays
Love is in the air

You say you’re sorry
I see your face so open
You are forgiven

It is a cold and
Bitter place without your heart
But here with it warmth

Broken; painful; mistrusting;
Why; what’s wrong; what happened;
Hope; smal; buds; brings open forgiveness;
heal; please heal the painful tears inside

Starfish embraces rock
Like love
Battered by currents
Not deterred

In life, there is love
As life may leave the body
Love shall never die

The edge of day meets
the softly falling night again.
Something, someone
I know only more,
because I’m here
Alone.

Love
Quickening life’s loss
Forever Held
Held Forever
to know nothing
is ever
lost

Oscar Grant, flown bird
Gone forever, in a word
We send love, gone bird.

Silhouetted upon my life
memories sweet and sour
yet love remains

A cherry tree blooms
In spring’s sunlight
Renewed from winter’s cold wind

The owl whispers
on winter soft wings
And cries out

Love haiku is when
Everything comes to heart &
Nothing comes to mind

Love is not in the
Harmony of musical chords
But their intent

Risk of pain versus gain
Love is a balancing act
Essential to life

What do women want?
Not even women know that…
Mystery of love

Different words, Meanings
Eros, Philos, Agape
Better one word: Love

Love is Miraculous
Amazing Wonderful Blissful
in everything
& who we are
There’s lots of it, Neverending
Always there for us.

Love is the water
In the river of life
Eternally flowing

LOVE CAME TO ME ONE
HALLOWEEN I TOOK OFF
MY MASKS AND SO DID
SHE WE ARE STILL TAKING
THEM OFF

The Silvery Moon
Rays light up the backyard
Magical

Family
One small, expands to big
Sharing love

warm, inspiring strong
compassionate, steady, calm
mysterious, joy

i see your text
i know you care
my phone, messenger of love

the magpie shrieks out -
take out the trash now now now
sleeping, the man laughs

LOVE’S LASTING JOURNEYS
TWISTING FATES EVERLASTING
CHALLENGE
THROUGH MOUNTAINS FLOWERS

Furry Companion
Warm, loyal, comforting
Your love is pure

Wavy hair, smiling face
Show me a different world
To expand my love

Garden Swing Misses
Yesterday’s Children
When will they visit again?

“Mommy, I need you!”
But, since the very first day,
I needed you more.

He said “I’m good now that
you are here.”
Love swells in my heart.

polish the mirror
wipe the sink, I change the sheets
loving the altar

You, my friend, hurt heart
I bubble wrap you with love
a blanket of care.

Love, Listens do
you hear? What?
Speak up, do not be afraid
We can love

Quiet flick’ring flame
dodges wind and dousing rains
and endures brightly

Love spins earth around sun
Air swirls water cycles life rises
All beings one source
