Easter Ain’t About Rabbits

Guest speaker: Cathy Harrington, ministerial student

As a rule, UU’s tend to be rather “allergic” to any mention of Jesus and when Easter rolls around, we usually fill the space with metaphors of spring instead. We can find meaning in the message of the gospels that doesn’t depend on a literal interpretation of the Easter story.

The four gospel versions of Easter morning are very different and the intent of four different stories is to convey to the reader the impact of Jesus’ life and death on his disciples, and to open our hearts to the possibility of going deeper than an intellectual or literal understanding. This sermon explores that possibility.
