Infrastructure
- Terilynn Pennisi described the requirements of the thesis project for her masters program in organizational management to design a management structure for a nonprofit organization and proposed to do her project with UUP. The board discussed some areas of need - Infrastructure, social action, membership outreach. Terilynn will discuss these ideas with her advisor and come back to us with a more developed proposal.
- Board retreat. The board retreat will include committee chairs and will be open to all with an interest in taking on a leadership role in the congregation. The date was set for Sept 18th with a back up date of Sept. 25th.
Facilities
- Terilynn offered to lend UUP a baby grand piano she has stored in her garage. Greg will explore this feasibility with the Woman's Club.
- The lease on the church office and RE classrooms at the Christian Science facility is signed. Jennine volunteered to set up the office.
Religious Education Update
- Jennine reported on Safe Congregation practices outlined in a workshop at GA titled "Risk Awareness in Recrruiting and Hiring". The board agreed to institute a practice of having all volunteers working with children, youth and vulnerable adults (pastoral care) fill out a volunteer application including names of references.
- A negotiating team was formed including David Dodd, Greg Davis and Terilynn Pennisi to negotiate the terms of employment and package with the new DRE.
- The board approved Jennine's proposal that the new DRE be required to have a peer support person who will serve as a mentor/advisor/coach. This person will be a religious professional working in the Bay Area and will be compensated with a small stipend to be arranged by the negotiating team.
Treasurer's Report
- The treasurer's report was distributed and deemed highly satisfactory.
General Assembly Report
- David proposed a worship service and video series to bring the experience of GA back to the congregation. The board concurred.
